I used to be a nerdy teen and listen to this song 10 years ago in high school when FF13-2 just came out. I loved it so much but the song fell into oblivion. Sure, sometimes we remember old songs that we were used to listen, but not this time. This song stayed quiet in my mind for a decade without doing the least effort to show up in a way or another. Yesterday I was scrolling through Apple Music looking for old games tracks and stumbled upon the FF13-2 OST, remembering that I was used to listen some of its tracks but forgot which ones. ‘New Bodhum’ I read. A familiar name. I press Play, the song starts and it slithers into my mind, bringing up memories of a much younger and naive self of me. Such is the Serendipity, or Sartre’s madeleine.
Same for me with Origa's out-of-this-world intro to Stand Alone Complex (and 2nd GIG's too!) - used to take 2 buses to my conservatory lessons and they would just soothe my soul on repeat!
I used to listen to the 13 and 13-2 soundtrack on repeat when they came out. And then I’d listen to the lightning returns promotional trailer music on repeat. This trilogy had incredible music.
